We got there with my wife to take a whole meal without looking at the price : appetizers, bottle of wine, main course and dessert. The appetizers were good but not amazing, in a classic italian caterer it would have been better. As for the main meal, my pizza was ok but my wife tried the house pasta specialty, or at least tried to : there were 13 pasta in the plate. For a true italian chef it is a SHAME : in Italy you would never be served so few.Moeover we waited a long time before getting served. To me serving such a small portion is truly a scam ; I won't pay this money for such a restaurant. We did not take a dessert in the end. Good note hoever : nice waiters.
Italian restaurant with acceptable prices. The pizza is good
Passed by and the place looked really nice inside. Didn't eat here yet.
I wanted to love this place so much more than I did.Came here on a date night with a groupon in hand. Glad we did - this place is pricy! We ordered a salumi and cheese plate, some kind of pepper starter, and split a pizza. The salumi/cheese was a decent selection and was pretty good. The peppers were a bit weird, I think they were overly sweet. The pizza was disappointing. With wine and everything, this certainly came out to more than I wanted to pay for food that was just ok. The ambience was great and the servers were nice... perhaps I'll try it again sometime.
Love this place. All the other cafes and restaurants on Chestnut get slammed for brunch and this place is so much better without the crazy crowds. Love it!
I came here last night on my way back from dinner and had a great time. We stopped by 5 minutes before they were about to close and were able to still serve us - talk about fantastic customer service! I ordered the "French 75" cocktail. It's made with Brandy, lemon, and sparking wine. Deeelicious! PS. Love the Venetian-looking ceilings
Loved our experience at Ristobar, great food, great wine, great service. Wish we were local so we could frequent it!
First time at the reopened version. Food and drinks very good. Smaller venue but still excellent.
Nice wine selection and excellent help from the bar staff. Meals were very high quality and quite tasty.
If you haven’t been to this new (one month) restaurant it’s one you should put on your “absolutely gotta go†list before it becomes too discovered and too crowded, which I’m guessing won’t take long. Delicately flavored food, not overly large portions, and superb service. The grilled calamari was very fresh with a really nice salad accompaniment. The raviolini, just scrumptious. The rest of the menu looks fantastic too and we’ll actually go back this week to try more dishes. Small, but adequate wine list and a bartender who certainly looks like she knows what she’s doing. Will try a cocktail next time.
Slow service.Very poor quality pizza. An experience not to be repeated, pizza was swimming in gunge that it would have been easier to eat with a straw!!!
Stopped in unexpectedly and ate at the bar. Great appetizers, lovely wine list.
great!!!
Not bad, but not great either. I wouldn't come back here. The bruschetta was just unseasoned, chopped tomatoes on toasted bread with a basil leaf on top. It would have been nice to have even a little balsamic or salt & pepper. Don't order this. For dinner I had little raviolis with escarole, pork, Nd beef sausage. I liked it a lot, and it is the only reason j gave this place three stars.
Good food, nice place and it doesn't get very crowded on a Friday night so it was nice to actually be able to have conversations. The only thing I didn't like is that portions are too small, they do have great cocktails and their staff seems to be trying very hard to be professional but miss a few things here and there. Relax and be friendly, that's all we need as patrons.. the rest just flows with the great food you have.
Very nice service without the attitude you get in some places nearby. You can order food at the bar too. Pizza is excellent!
Delicious, authentic, creative food. Good drinks. Great location. Vibrant ambiance. Parking not bad, either.
Marcelo the chef (I think that was his name) made the most incredible Gnocchi tonight. Both the smith gnocchi and the sauce were incredible. We also had the chicken and it was so well done. It was moist and he split the plates. Thanks for such great service and so happy you guys have opened. It looked like you have reopened after a number of years. We will be back and regulars
Great ambiance! Great food! And service!
Great little back patio area and yummy food!
Really good food. Cocktails were so-so -especially my gin martini - I don't recall asking for a mint leaf in it.
We came in after seeing a movie. Loved the atmosphere immediately. The bar had a few seats, so we took two. Our bartender grated us with a smile and a welcome. We ordered a wonderful Pinot Noir. I had the white bean soup as I didn't want a large meal late. My companion ordered a pasta with lamb that was pure perfection!!! We then told the bartender that we wanted port for dessert. We asked her to surprise us. We were delighted with her pick. The entire experience was wonderful. We will be back very soon!!!
Food was amazing. I wasn't sure what to expect, but met some friends here and thought the food was great. It's a huge restaurant, so it lacks that intimate feeling that I sometimes enjoy at places in the city. It was also a little odd that they have televisions and were showing the Giant's game. Not that I mind that, but it seemed out of place. Not sure I would go out of my way to eat here again, but if I'm in the area I might consider it - for the food.
Very average, Ristobar had beautiful decor and a great wine list and the initial promise of being something wonderful.I have to say the overall experience was very disappointing. The service wasn't great, we ordered the Bruschetta which was a small portion but quite good followed by the Zucchini & Crab pasta which I could have done better in my own kitchen. The crab was fresh, granted, but it lacked salt and flavour, I had to ask the waiter for lemon which I added because of the bland flavour. I was tempted to tell the chef to stick to pizza because it was obvious thats were his strengths lie.It was disappointing for our first meal in San Francisco, if you are familiar with good Italian then give this one a miss. Also when the bill came, I payed for it in cash, and was asked if i would like my change and i said yes as we had already splurged enough and felt that it didn't warrant a $15 US tip, and the waiter never came back, we were ignored and left to show our selves out.Terrible!
Tony was a great waiter. Drinks: He made us the house Margarita with blueberries and it was incredible and his own whiskey drink. The chef Marcelo made us an incredible dinner. We had the lamb meatballs, chicken 🗠gnocchi ðŸ and a great desert we can’t remember the name of and they all were all soooo good.Congrats to the new owners of this place and our new local. The service and food was great. So happy you guys are close and hope you keep it up.
The pappardelle were pretty good.
Not the best Italian I've ever had but still a great place to go. That would go back again
Ristobar was larger than I expected, but the atmosphere is very cozy and intimate. The dinner menu is some of the best italian food I have ever had. The chef is known for his Casoncelli, but all of the remaining pasta dishes are to die for. If you are looking for a appetizer I recommend the Battuta! They also have a great brunch menu.. not somewhere you'd want to go starving, as the portions are light. I recommend the frittata or the burger, if they haven't run out already ;)
We had a gift certificate for this place. We were starving when we arrived from a 10+ mile run. We would have been happy eating anything. The service was slow and spotty. We had to ask often for water. It was the waiters fourth day, so we have to give him some slack. The food is very pricey but does not deliver. We had a cheese plate that was good, but requires no cooking. I had the rissotto which was kind of like risotto soup. The accompanying lamb was not sweet and tender like it should be. My wife's penne with a couple of pieces of over cooked seafood, tasted like box pasta with mediocre sauce. We cannot comment on the coffee or deserts. We were not willing to risk more disappointment.
Yum
We were dining with a person who must eat entirely gluten free ( not easy to do in an Italian restaurant). The staff was so good about taking every precaution to make sure our friend was served great food...great gluten free food. The rest of us loved our food as well.min the hustle and bustle of the Marina, I didn't expect to find such excellent service!!
Decent Italian restaurant and wine bar in Cow Hollow/Marina. It's not the trendiest place, but is a nice place to meet up with a friend or have a quiet date, unlike other rowdy places in the vicinity. Wines are pretty good and there's a good variety of food for everyone.
Stopped by for a quick drink and snack. The pizza was a good snack to share. Cocktail selection was limited.
An excellent multicouse dinners.
Excellent staff! When I come to town I always come to Risto. Beautiful interior. Very creative chef!
Fantastic pastas! ;)
Portion sizes are just right. Not too much. Wine selection is wonderful.
Expensive not good food and bad service.
nice, real Italian food in a comfy casual location
We stopped by for brunch/lunch with a party of 6. It was horrible service due to Peter, our waiter. Our orders were either 30 minute delayed (when no one else was in the restaurant), or forgotten (again not many patrons in the restaurant), or mixed up with a different table's order. The food quality was poor too.
Excited to try the newly refurbed RistoBar and so specifically reserved a High-table for 2, but instead was escorted to a dingy regular seating corner with no service for 15 minutes under a broken light. Hostess showed zero concern when we asked to be moved. She did not help find an alternative and so we left while she remained chatting with her friend. Not a great first impression
Went for a quick bite to eat and had a great meal, food came out very fast.
